William Shatner Presents: Tek War Chronicles #1-2 (Ongoing)
Eng | RS & Hotfile | CBR | Bluewater Productions | Issue #2 Released Aug 5, 2009 | 33.9 MB Total
is a new ongoing comic book series based on the best selling TekWar novels by television and movie icon William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk of Star Trek fame) and published by independent comic book publisher Bluewater Productions. This first volume of the ongoing monthly title, penned by Shatner and Bluewater writing veteran Scott Davis, is loosely based on the original 1989 novel, but is grittier than any previous incarnation of the franchise that began when Shatner was working on Star Trek V. There have been numerous novels, televisions movies, a television series, and a previous 15 issue comic series from Marvel. If you're worried that you're going to be missing out on stuff, don't worry. You can begin your introduction to the Tekverse here and be fine. Shatner and Davis do a decent job in setting up the story of protagonist Jake Cardigan, placing emphasis on developing his character rather than jump right into the plot--and the action--which take place in issue #2 right from the very start. Noir science fiction that hearkens back to the pulp detective stories of the 30's and 40's.
