More than four years have passed by since Tastenklangs first album saw the light of the day and now we face his second composition, an album of 14 tracks offering relaxed, well tempered, melodic and spirited pieces. The artist, who already has proven with his first album "Inspirations" to bring a smile in the face with easing sounds of chill has taken a development. Each of the 14 tracks between 3 and 6 minutes tells a little self-contained story but melts to a complete unit like an orange in a fruitbasket is delicious itself but involves all senses as part of the overall appearance. "Polyphony" is an album of great diversity.

Supersize Polyphony is a celebration of large-scale choral works from the 16th century, performed here by the Armonico Consort and the Choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, under their musical directors Christopher Monks and Geoffrey Webber. The unique programme features epic motets, such as Thomas Tallis’ Spem in Alium and Alessandro Striggio’s Ecce Beatam Lucem, alongside his rarely performed 60 part Missa Ecco Si Beato Giorno. Interspersed with the serene beauty of ethereal chants by Hildegard of Bingen, this new recording presents works of magnitude and polyphonic drama in stellar performances by two of the UK’s leading choral ensembles.

For almost 50 years the Belgian Huelgas Ensemble, under the direction of its founder Paul Van Nevel, has been setting standards with its recordings of vocal music, especially from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. With "The Magic of Polyphony", a new 3 CD recording is now available, on which masterpieces from six centuries can be heard and discovered. It contains highlights from six concerts which the Huelgas Ensemble gave in 2019 at the first edition of their own festival in the Burgundian village of Talant. The village, which is only a few kilometres away from Dijon, offers with its magnificent late Romanesque church Notre-Dame a unique and acoustically outstanding setting for the annual Pentecost Festival.

Renaissance music from Spain has come to mean the works of composers such as Tomás Luís de Victoria or Francisco Guerrero rather than their predecessors. But composers such as Francisco de Peñalosa – who died in 1528, the same year that Guerrero was born – were musicians of genuine imagination and skill, whose work often shows a formidable individuality. The most recent edition of Peñalosa’s oeuvre lists 22 works as genuine: masses, lamentations, hymns and motets. From these, New York Polyphony have selected two highly expressive Lamentations, intended for services held during Holy Week and setting biblical texts bemoaning the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC.
