Superb Smile show in New York 2004. In 1998, Brian Wilson teamed up with Chicago-based producer Joe Thomas for the album Imagination. Following this, he received extensive vocal coaching to improve his voice, learned to cope with his stage fright, and started to consistently perform live for the first time in decades. This resulted in Wilson successfully playing the entire Pet Sounds album live throughout the US, UK and Europe. In 1999, Wilson filed a suit against Thomas, seeking damages and a declaration which freed him to work on his next album without involvement from Thomas.

Although somewhat unimaginatively titled, 1973's Beach Boys in Concert is significantly more than a hastily compiled live collection of hits. To the contrary, the set includes highlights from the band's earliest sides ("Surfer Girl") through to the groundbreaking Smile era ("Good Vibrations" and "Heroes and Villains") as well as more concurrent material ("Sail On Sailor" and "Marcella").

This Percy Faith two-fer combining the albums Great Folk Themes and American Serenade works well on one disc, providing pleasant, easy listening versions of folk and country themes. This is an interesting combination of albums that investigate traditional folk themes, including "Home on the Range," "Sloop John B.," and "Michael Row the Boat," with tunes written by Bob Dylan, Hoyt Axton, and Duke Ellington. These LPs were originally released on Columbia Records and had been out of print until Collectables reissued them in 2002.
