Since 2003, Danish guitarist, singer, and songwriter Thorbjørn Risager has been delivering his own mutant brand of blues. His Black Tornado band is comprised of two guitars, bass, drums, a pair of saxophones, trumpet, and keyboards. Come on In is their fourth album for Germany's Ruf label and 12th overall. Risager's rich, resonant, gravelly baritone singing voice is equal parts Ray Charles, Billy Gibbons, J.J. Cale, and Leon Redbone. Black Tornado are like no other band. They are capable of simmering, brooding, noir-ish jazz, swampy rock, sultry R&B, uptown funk, and house-rocking blues derived from the entwined lineages of Chicago, Texas, and the Delta.

As an instrumentalist who had a thriving career at the age of six, Lucky Peterson is one of the most accomplished blues artists of his generation. Now that he's all of 51, he's a talent to be reckoned with on the guitar, piano, and organ, and he's a solid singer, too. Peterson shows off his multiple abilities on 2016's Long Nights, a set recorded live in the studio, with Lucky adding extra piano and guitar licks after the fact. Lucky and his band kick up some dust on several selections, but much of Long Nights is dominated by laid-back late-night grooves. Imagine Lucky and his combo are jamming for their own entertainment after the last set of the night, and you'll get an idea of how this music feels.
Internationally renowned guitarist Ana Popovic has built her career on defining and describing, on her own terms, the essence of American music, simultaneously pushing limits, bending genres, and reinventing her music and herself with each new record. Not surprisingly, she can claim any number of notable accolades and achievements from the highest quarters of the music industry. She's shown her commitment to celebrating her guitar-driven, eclectic music style through consistent touring, awards, and recognition for the past 25 years. In the process, she's emerged as one of the most thoughtful, dynamic, and committed performers in modern songwriting and guitar. Ana's new album, 'Power', on ArtisteXclusive Records, brings those dynamics to the fore and, in the process, turns this set of songs into both a powerful and personal tale of survival through faith, determination and tenacity.
