Nils Frahm

French pianist and composer Jean Kapsa shares a beautiful mini-album, ‘Syncline’, out on all digital platforms via LEITER. A collection of six solo pieces, it was recorded at night between September and November 2022 in Kapsa’s home in Paris on the piano his parents gave him when he was just 15 and which he still keeps in his living room, surrounded permanently by microphones.

Troyka are an experimental British trio who make rich and enthralling instrumental music. Featuring Kit Downes (once Mercury nominated in his own right) on hammond/synths, Chris Montague on guitar/loops and Josh Blackmore on drums, Troyka is far more than the sum of its parts and is definitely not your usual Hammond organ trio. Ornithophobia is the London three-piece's third studio album - their first for Naim - and truly marks the fruition of five years' worth of musical experimentation.

Colours Of The Night, Peter Broderick's first full-length for Bella Union in three years, had a rather odd conception to say the least. The American born multi-instrumentalist and songwriter went along for the ride when invited for a so-called "recording residency" in the small town of Lucerne, Switzerland. Through several memorable concert evenings in the town on various tours, he developed a friendship with some of the locals, who eventually got the idea of inviting Broderick to be a guest of the city for three weeks while recording an album with a backing band of local musicians.

Flutter EP is an electric piano like you've never heard before. She is packed to the brim with specially devised samples made from a variety of slutty analogue hardware synths and keyboards. All sample sets morph and loop through various transitions for a mind boggling selection of unique but Wurly-ish, Rhodes-y, organ-esque, DX like electric piano type sounds….but of course there is a twist which makes her very different.

Sarah Neufeld is a violinist and composer based in Montréal, Canada. Best known as a member of Arcade Fire, she is also a founding member of the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre, and most recently as half of an exciting new duo with renowned saxophonist Colin Stetson. Neufeld counts Bela Bartok, Steve Reich, Iva Bittova and Arthur Russell among the formative influences for her solo work, in tandem with an ear for the textures and sensibilities of contemporary electro-acoustic, avant-folk and indie rock music. In 2013 Sarah Neufeld released her debut album 'Hero Brother' on Montreal's Constellation Records (home of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Colin Stetson), which was produced by Nils Frahm. 'The Ridge', Neufeld's second solo album, features performances and production from the likes of Colin Stetson, Tim Hecker and Arcade Fire's Jeremy Gara on drums and synth.

Riwaindo is Japanese English (Jenglish) slang for Rewind and Haiokas way of describing his art as tracing back the roots of Japanese music. I used Japanese oldest music called "Gagaku". It is 1200 years old. Gagaku is the world's oldest orchestral music. In the past I made my music with Japanese traditional instruments like Koto. I mixed it with Japanese field recordings and electronic sounds. With Riwaindo Im tracing back much further all the way to the origin of Japanese music. Indeed listening to Riwaindo makes us feel like traveling in contemporary Japan while at the same time feeling the countrys 2000 year history as the world's oldest country. Japanese old style drums "Wadaiko" player Atsuhiro Cho supports Haioka on his musical journey and almost all unique drum sounds in this album are played by him. The album also features Argentinian experimental artist and fellow Red Bull Academy Tokyo alumnus Plasma Ruby known for his latest remix for Nils Frahm.
