"Garden Of Storms" is In Mourning's fifth studio album and last part of the trilogy started with "The Weight Of Oceans" (2012) and followed by "Afterglow" (2016). In 2018, the band's line-up went through a change; drummer Daniel Liljekvist (ex-Katatonia) was replaced by Joakim Strandberg Nilsson and bassist Sebastian Svalland filled in for Pierre Stam (ex-October Tide). Together with founding member, guitarist and vocalist Tobias Netzell, as well as guitarists Björn Pettersson and Tim Nedergård, they recorded "Garden Of Storms" between March and May 2019 at two different, Swedish studios - Black Lounge (drums & bass) and Beckasinen (guitars, vocals and keyboards). Jonas Kjellgren took care of mixing and mastering. "Garden Of Storms" features seven new tracks replete with artwork from Kristian Wåhlin (Bathory, At The Gates, King Diamond)…
Cosmic Wheels was Donovan's first album in three years to be aimed at mainstream listeners (as opposed to the audience of children and parents for HMS Donovan). For most onlookers, the passage of time meant that this record should have differed considerably from its predecessor…
“Fragments“ is by far the most RPWL-like solo effort: self-indulgent midtempo songs with gripping Floyd-like harmony vocals form its cornerstones, like in “Wide World“. As insiders know, this is no wonder, since the multiplayer Postl contributes a lot to the creation of RPWL-songs, even though he is officially “just“ RPWL’s bassist. The other longtracks like “Longings End“ and “Skylights“ (like “Wide World“ adorned with Bairnsons guitar artwork) also show Postl’s penchant for prog-Genesis’ latter days, which manifests itself in “Longings End“ with corresponding guitar arpeggios and in “Skylights“ with mellotron, a trademark vocal line and classical acoustic guitar parts echoing the spherical moments on “Trick of the Tail“…
Controversial and fascinating, Italian band VERGANTI bring a fierce and uncompromising creationist fervour to their music. Formed in 2015 and with a sound firmly rooted in a wide range of Italian and worldwide prog-rock influences, its members hold firm beliefs about the history of the world and what they consider its extra-terrestrial origins to be. The founders of the project were initially intrigued by theories offered in Giuseppe Alaimo's book `The Atlantis Enigma' (which proposed that founders of the fabled city of Atlantis were in fact a colony of aliens from outer space), and a second work `The Bible Does Not Talk to God'. Written from a historical and scientific perspective by Mauro Biglino, a scholar and translator of ancient languages, the latter presented a re-telling of the Bible in the original language in which it was written, but from the perspective of a `historical' book instead of a religious or spiritual one.
Recorded using techniques sympathetic to the 1970s Canterbury-style Progressive Rock sound. The Kentish Spires collectively bring a vast wealth of musical experience – weaving woodwind and reed instruments over beautifully crafted songs with the stunning eccentric English vocals of Lucie V. The Kentish Spires are an UK group formed by Phil WARREN and Danny CHANG from FYREWORKS, that is inspired by the Canterbury scene of the 70's. Robert REED of MAGENTA and CYAN collaborated with them on mastering their debut album which was released in 2018 and features Lucie V, Rik LOVERIDGE, Paul HORNSBY and Helen WILLIAMS on that line-up.
