This is the second solo album from Sir Schenker and most certainly one of his hardest rockin' albums. The opening bars on 'Are You Ready To Rock' kick-starts the album, which never relents for the entirety of the disc, save for the power ballad "New Trust A Stranger". By modern standards, this CD is not heavy, but for 1981, MSG was one heavy mutha!
Recorded just before the release of MSG's sophmore studio album and released shortly after that album was released, "One Night At Budakon" features what many consider to be the classic MSG line-up. Besides the flashy fretwork of Micheal Schenker himself, there is also consummate drummer Cozy Powell, vocalist Gary Barden (the only other member who actually performed on the first MSG album), bassist Chris Glen, and keyboardist/guitarist Paul Raymond, who had previously worked with Schenker in UFO.
Legendary guitarist Michael Schenker will release a new studio album titled "Spirit On A Mission" in the U.K. on March 23. Released by in-akustik, the collection of all-new material features Schenker's TEMPLE OF ROCK band — ex-SCORPIONS drummer Herman Rarebell and bassist Francis Buchholz, ex-RAINBOW singer Doogie White and Wayne Findlay (guitar, keyboards). "Spirit On A Mission" features twelve 12 classic rock guitar-driven songs that highlight Schenker's distinctive and dynamic guitar playing, valiantly underpinned by the ferocious rhythm section of Rarebell and Buchholz, the same rhythm section that originally performed together on the SCORPIONS' 1979 album "Lovedrive".
Assault Attack is the third studio album from The Michael Schenker Group, and the only album to feature former Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet. The album was recorded in France at the Château d'Hérouville and was produced by Martin Birch. In 2005, Assault Attack was ranked number 481 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.
Michael Schenker (born 10 January 1955 in Sarstedt, Germany) is a German rock guitarist, best known for his tenure in UFO, in addition to his solo work. He first rose to fame as a founding member of the Scorpions, then achieved fame in the mid 1970s as the lead guitar player for UFO. Since leaving UFO in 1978, he has been leading the Michael Schenker Group in various incarnations.
„Revelation“ was recorded at studios in Germany and California and produced by Schenker and Voss. “Doogie and Gary were with us in Germany,” Schenker says, ”and in Los Angeles we had Robin and Graham and Simon Phillips. This is how you can do it if you need to, with people living all over the world but really, it’s no different to when I was recording „Obsession“ with UFO with the producer sitting in a mobile studio and the drummer being set up in a warehouse communicating via video screen. The most important thing is capturing the character of the musicians and the singers, their groove and personality. It‘s the chemistry of all musicians involved. All the energy I put into those different line-ups from the past, it’s now combined into one band, all of that energy collected into the centre and makes the whole album very powerful.”
