A beautiful, melancholy melody that is loved across borders and time.Jazz Bar, Japan's best-selling jazz compilation, is back for it's 24th year.In the world of jazz, it is believed that great performances produce great songs. The famous and legendary jazz saying, 'Jazz has only great performances without great songs,' aptly expresses this. There is no doubt about this. If you listen to Miles' famous 'Autumn Leaves,' you can perfectly understand how the chanson 'Autumn Leaves' quickly became a great jazz masterpiece. However, I think there is also the opposite idea that 'great songs produce great performances,' and that it's okay to have that. I always select songs for 'Jazz Bar' with that sentiment in mind.
This limited Mediabook edition adds a bonus DVD which features a 'Making Of' segment, plus 'Ready For Boarding,' documenting the band's adventures on the high seas at the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise! (2012)
“Bad Mad Man” is the title of Sven Larsson’s second solo album and the same formula was used as on “Sunlight And Shadow”, which was released in March of 2010: a mix of AOR and westcoast, a mix of vocal and instrumental tracks and the addition of several lead vocalists. If we omit the two instrumentals, “Green Unit” and “Welcome To My Island”, we’re left with 9 vocal tracks of which only 4 are sung by Larsson himself. Invited were Göran Edman & Anders Ahlund (each for 2 tracks) and Thomas Eriksson (for 1 track). Of course (and once again) this created a lot of variation, but this is exactly my point of criticism. Mr Larsson tries to get so much in one album that it loses the coherence, which is really a pity, because he knows to write and perform decent stuff. I can only hope that he finds the right direction for his third (crucial) album …
