浮世击 Yellow

From April 1997 till October 1999, the Greek daily newspaper "Kathimerini" published an excellent series of books and CDs covering the major historical and musical events for the years 1960-1990, in Greece and internationally. For each year they published a nice book and 2 CDs with the Best greek and internatonal hits. The future sound of jazz is abstract and concrète! It is the mixture of the "musique concrète" (Paris 1950) with the up to date electro-acustic sounds, based on the "School Of Electronic-Music" (Cologne 1948 ). E©lectro-jazz cannot have the meanings and issues of classical jazz, this is neither the purpose nor the intention of this music to imitate traditional sounds. Reverse! After all, it's club-music (but remember: jazz was and is the classic club-music - it was rising and developed in clubs!). I call it Hybrid-System-Music, following the qualitative force and advancement of electronic music. In short terms: hybrid-systems are combine analogue synthies with digital steering-controls. It's funny - the first big hybrid-studio in the Bell-Telephone-Laboratories in the University of Toronto, founded by Max Mathews (1965-69), called "Groove"!

Pianist and singer Patricia Barber's second album (and major-label debut) is a consistently interesting, but not always completely rewarding, array of original instrumentals, vocal standards, and surprise cover versions.

Italo Disco Collection is excellent compilation of Hi-NRG Italo classics. This collection was created originally in 1985-1988. This collection unites a great deal of the musical memories solicited by a lot of people from all around the world over many years. " Grant Miller - Red For Love", "Danuta - Touch My Heart", "Raff - Self Control", "Albert One - Lady O" , "Baltimora - Key Key Karimba" and more… are the songs which included on the Italo Disco Collection.

I inherited this when a friend died a while back. With very few exceptions, I'm not a fan of modern (read post big band) jazz, and this isn't one of those exceptions. I do, however, find it interesting that one of the songs included here is "My Girl," an early big hit by The Temptations and written by Smokey Robinson and Ronald White (one of the Miracles). This is her second release, and I guess she's a pretty important artist since five of her 12 releases (not including comps) have also been issued by MFSL.

Troubadour – The Definitive Collection 1964-1976 is the first CD boxed set from Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan. It was released in the US (Epic/Legacy E2K 46986) on August 4, 1992. In 1995, it was released again without the long box and picture booklet.
