The progressive fivesome 5bridgeS from Haarlem, The Netherlands, takes it's name from Keith Emerson's Five Bridges Suite Keith Emerson. The band aims to, as they say themselves, create a bridge to the 70s, "the decade in which craftmanship was still permitted to be warm, original and somewhat frayed at the edges".
The band consists of keyboardist and Hammond torturer Luke d'Araceno, guitarist Enzo Gallo, singer and multi-instrumentalist Piet Roelofsen and the massive rhythm tandem Martin Thoolen (bass) and Rob van der Linden (drums). This line up has the gift to let listeners have flashbacks of the era of Yes, Genesis and ELP, without ever sounding outdated.

Temples With Prophets (1969). Sunbeam Records present the first official reissue of Don Shinn's Temples With Prophets, originally released in 1969. Having made several classic 45 with The Soul Agents (whose singer was briefly Rod Stewart), Don Shinn taped his remarkable debut album in London's Lansdowne Studios in December 1967. Featuring his explosive organ (a clear influence on the young Keith Emerson) and outstanding guitar from Paul Hodgeson, it's one of the first progressive albums ever recorded. Includes a 12-page booklet with detailed background notes and rare images. Includes two jaw-dropping bonus tracks from 1966…

The 1998 Castle Communications reissue (ESM 647) of the only album by the progressive band as a quartet runs circles around every other version of this album on CD, including the material in the 1995 Charly Records box, which was pretty good. Otherwise, the music is a flawed but valiant effort at progressive-type art rock, a little too heavily influenced by spaced-out, druggy psychedelia and suffering severely from the lack of a real singer in the ranks of the band. Keith Emerson's organ and piano flourishes never sounded crisper, and Davy O'List's Hendrix-ish guitar is in sharp relief as well.
